How to Fertilize your Lawn

Use some type of broadcast spreader to apply fertilizer as opposed to applying hand. This way, you ensure more even spreading and can get it done way faster and you avoid getting dangerous chemicals on your hands.

Follow all the instructions on the type of fertilizer that you purchase. Applying too much can result in nitrogen burn which will turn your lawn brown or orange.

Spring is the best time to apply fertilizer. The temperature of the soil should be above 55 degrees to ensure the best results.  For our region, this is usually March.  After this, your lawn should be fertilized about every 2 months.

The lawn should be watered soon after application of fertilizer so that the fertilizer will have the full effect.
